Delete Your Account and Data

1. How to Delete Your SubBuddy Account

You can delete your SubBuddy account and the data attached to it at any time, from the Android app or from the web app. This page explains how to do it, what is removed, and what we are required to keep.

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. If you only want the reminders to stop, you can turn notifications off in Settings instead of deleting your account.

2. Delete Only Some of Your Data

You do not have to delete your account to remove data from SubBuddy. While you are signed in, you can delete individual records at any time:

  • Subscriptions: open a subscription and delete it, or remove it straight from the list or the home screen. Its amounts, dates, notes and tags go with it.
  • Family and team invitations: revoke an invitation you sent, and it is deleted along with the email address it was addressed to.
  • Family and team members: remove a member to end their access and delete the membership record.
  • Profile details and preferences: edit your name, surname, username, avatar and reminder settings in Settings whenever you like.

These deletions take effect immediately and cannot be undone, and your account stays active. If you want something removed that you cannot delete yourself, email hello@subbuddy.io and we will take care of it.

3. Delete Your Account From the Android App

If you have SubBuddy installed on your phone:

  1. Open SubBuddy and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Danger Zone section and tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm in the dialog. The account is deleted right away and you are signed out.

4. Delete Your Account From the Web App

You can also delete your account from any browser:

  1. Sign in at subbuddy.io and open your dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. In the account actions section, type "delete" in the confirmation field.
  4. Select Delete account. The account is deleted right away and you are signed out.

5. If You Cannot Sign In

If you have lost access to your account and cannot complete the steps above, email hello@subbuddy.io from the address associated with the account, using the subject "Account deletion request".

We may ask you to verify that the account is yours before we delete it, so that nobody can erase someone else's data. Verified requests are completed within 30 days.

6. What Gets Deleted With Your Account

When your account is deleted, we remove:

  • Your account and sign-in credentials, including your email address.
  • Your profile: name, surname, username, avatar, plan tier and account preferences.
  • Every subscription you tracked, with its amounts, categories, renewal dates, notes and tags.
  • Your reminder and notification settings, and the push tokens registered for your devices.
  • Your family and team memberships, along with invitations you sent or received.
  • Your customer record with our purchase providers. Any active paid subscription is cancelled before the account is removed.

7. What We Keep, and For How Long

A limited amount of information survives account deletion, either because it lives in systems that are not user-editable or because the law requires us to keep it:

  • Encrypted backups, which are purged as backups age out on our provider's normal rotation.
  • Billing and payment records held by our payment processor, which tax and accounting law requires us to retain.
  • Server and security logs used to prevent fraud and abuse, kept for a limited period.

None of it is used to rebuild your account or to contact you after deletion.

8. Timing

Deletions you make in the app or on the web take effect immediately. Requests sent by email are completed within 30 days of verification. Backup copies fall out of rotation within 90 days.
