Hello [Service name] support team,

I would like to cancel the subscription associated with the account [account email], effective at the end of the current billing period. Please do not renew or charge this account again after that date.

Reason for cancellation: The service has become too expensive for the value it provides.

Please confirm in writing that the subscription has been cancelled and that no further charges will be made to my payment method.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cancel any subscription by email?

Many services accept cancellation requests through support email or contact forms, and in several US states companies are legally required to honor written cancellation requests. Some services still force you through an in-app or account-settings flow, so check the service's help pages. Even then, a written request creates a paper trail that helps with disputes.

What should a cancellation email include?

Identify the account (the email address it's registered under), state clearly that you want to cancel, say when the cancellation should take effect, and ask for written confirmation that no further charges will occur. That last part matters most if you ever need to dispute a charge.

Am I entitled to a refund when I cancel?

It depends on the service's refund policy and your region's consumer laws. Many services refund the latest charge if you cancel shortly after renewal, especially if you haven't used the service since. It never hurts to ask, which is why the generator includes an optional refund request line.

What if the company ignores my cancellation email?

Follow up once, referencing your first email and its date. If charges continue, dispute them with your bank or card issuer and attach both emails as evidence. A dated, written cancellation request significantly strengthens a chargeback claim.
