  4. 4Access lasts until that date and borrowed titles return themselves afterwards; a one-month Pause is offered on the same page if you only need a break.

What to know before you cancel

Kindle Unlimited bills on the same Amazon account as Prime and your shopping, so the $11.99 hides among order charges and people carry it for years without opening a book. Borrowed titles disappear the moment the membership ends; Kindle books you bought stay in your library, and your highlights and notes are kept on your account. The 6-, 12- and 24-month prepaid plans sold around Prime Day are not refundable, so only prepay if you already read on it every month. Amazon does re-offer trials and $0.99 deals to lapsed members, one per account at a time, so cancelling and coming back later is often cheaper than staying subscribed through a dry spell.

Free trial policy

30-day free trial for new members; Prime members regularly see 2-3 months free or $0.99 offers. All of them convert to $11.99 a month.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Kindle Unlimited?

Current US list prices for Kindle Unlimited are Monthly: $11.99/mo. Taxes, promotions, bundles, and third-party billing can change the final price.

How do I cancel Kindle Unlimited?

Start here: Go to amazon.com/kucentral (Manage Your Kindle Unlimited Membership) and sign in. Complete the remaining confirmation steps before leaving the account page, and save the cancellation email or screenshot.

Is Kindle Unlimited included with Prime?

No. Prime includes Prime Reading, a smaller rotating catalogue; Kindle Unlimited is a separate membership at $11.99 a month with a far larger catalogue plus the included audiobooks and magazines. Prime members get the same 30-day trial and regular 2-3 month free offers, but afterwards the two memberships bill separately on the same account.

Do I lose my books if I cancel Kindle Unlimited?

Borrowed titles, yes: they return themselves when the membership ends and disappear from your Kindle. Books you bought outright stay in your library for good, and highlights and notes you made in borrowed titles are kept on your account. If you are halfway through a borrowed book, finish it before the renewal date or buy it.
