How to cancel Perplexity

1Sign in at perplexity.ai and open Settings → Account.
2Under Subscription, select Manage, then Cancel Subscription.
3Confirm. Pro or Max features stay available until the last day of the period you already paid for.
4If you subscribed inside the iPhone or iPad app, none of the above works: cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Perplexity.

Subscribed through the iOS app? Apple bills it and only Apple can stop it; the Perplexity website cannot cancel an App Store subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel anything.

What to know before you cancel

Check whether you already have Pro for free before paying: Perplexity has given year-long Pro subscriptions away through phone carriers, banks, PayPal and device makers, and those codes stack onto an existing plan rather than refunding it. The gap between the two paid tiers is unusually wide for this category, $20 to $200 with nothing between, so Max only makes sense if you actually run Labs, Comet and the background assistants rather than just asking questions. Cancelling drops you to the free tier with your Threads and Spaces intact, and annual Pro at $200 saves $40 against paying monthly.

Free trial policy

No standard free trial for Pro; the free tier is permanent, and Perplexity regularly hands out one-year Pro codes through partners such as carriers, banks and PayPal.

Is Perplexity Max worth $200 a month?

Only for a narrow profile. Max buys unlimited Labs runs, the Comet browser assistant and background assistants that work on a schedule; if your use is asking research questions and reading sourced answers, Pro at $20 does that identically. The honest test is whether you hit Pro's limits in a normal week. Most people never do.

I got Perplexity Pro free from my carrier. What happens when it ends?

Partner codes are usually 12 months and do not auto-renew into a paid plan by themselves, but the account silently returns to the free tier on the expiry date. Note that date when you redeem the code, because there is no bill to warn you and nothing in your card statement to find later.
