On October 12 X stopped selling Basic, Premium and Premium+ to new customers and folded X Premium into The X Subscription with Grok and Cursor: Plus $8 ($80 a year), Premium $30 ($300), Super $100 and Ultra $200. Existing subscribers keep their plan and price unless they switch.

Premium+ rose from $22 to $40 a month ($229 to $395 a year) on February 18, 2025, the day after Grok 3 launched; Basic and Premium were unchanged.

How to cancel X Premium

1Legacy Basic, Premium or Premium+: open x.com in a web browser, click More → Premium → Manage your subscription, then Cancel subscription.
2X Subscription plan (Plus, Premium, Super or Ultra): open the subscription's billing page from your account and cancel before the renewal date.
3Confirm the cancellation; the checkmark and other perks stay until the end of the paid period.
4Bought inside the iOS or Android app? Cancel it in App Store or Google Play subscriptions instead.

App-store subscriptions cost more (legacy Premium is $11 a month on iOS against $8 on the web) and can only be cancelled through Apple or Google, not on x.com. Cancelling an X Subscription plan also ends the Grok and Cursor features it includes.

What to know before you cancel

X gives no refund when you cancel, so an annual Premium+ is $395 paid up front and a cancelled month runs to its end. Switching a legacy plan to The X Subscription is different: it is permanent, cancels the old plan and refunds the unused time pro rata (Apple decides its own refunds, and a Google Play plan must be cancelled by hand). For a Premium+ subscriber the new $30 Premium tier is $10 cheaper and adds SuperGrok and Cursor. Basic has no successor, so a $3 Basic subscriber who cancels can only come back at $8. The web price is the cheap one: Apple and Google add their cut, so legacy Premium costs $11 a month in the iOS app against $8 at x.com.

Why did my X Premium+ bill jump to $40?

Premium+ rose from $22 to $40 a month on February 18, 2025, the day after Grok 3 launched, and X applied the new price to existing subscribers at their next renewal. It was the second increase in two months: the tier had gone from $16 to $22 on December 21, 2024. Since October 12, 2026 there is a cheaper route: The X Subscription's Premium tier includes full Premium+ benefits for $30 a month.

Does X Premium include Grok?

It depends on the plan. On The X Subscription, Plus includes base Grok usage, and Premium, Super and Ultra add SuperGrok, Grok Bot and Cursor, all drawing on one shared usage pool. On legacy plans, Premium includes Grok inside X and Premium+ gives the highest in-app limits, but SuperGrok was a separate xAI subscription, so cancelling legacy X Premium does not stop a separate SuperGrok charge.
