Monthly and 3-month plans rose on May 20: Essential $9.99 → $10.99, Extra $13.99 → $16.99, Premium $16.99 → $19.99. The 12-month plans were not touched, which widened the annual discount sharply.

What to know before you cancel
May 2026 made the annual plan the only sane way to buy this. Monthly Essential is $10.99, or $131.88 a year, against $79.99 for the 12-month plan Sony left untouched: paying by the month now costs $51.89 more a year for identical access. Discounts on 12-month codes appear every Black Friday, Days of Play, and holiday sale; stack them before auto-renewal hits. Games from the Extra/Premium catalog vanish when membership lapses, but your monthly Essential games stay claimable forever once added. Sony bills auto-renewal at full list price, never the promo price you originally paid.
