Google One vs Apple One: price, plans, and which to keep

Current US prices, price history, trial terms, and cancellation friction side by side, built from our service guides. Last reviewed August 26, 2026.

The short answer

These bundles answer different questions. Google One is storage first: $1.99 buys 100 GB and $9.99 buys 2 TB, with AI tiers stacked above. Apple One is services first: $19.95 buys Music, TV, Arcade and only 50 GB of iCloud+, and the 2 TB you get from Google for $9.99 only arrives with Premier at $39.95. If storage is the job, Google is a fraction of the price; if you already pay for two Apple services, Apple One is the cheaper way to keep them. Google cut prices twice in 2026; Apple raised Family and Premier in July 2026.

Google One is cheaper by $219.41 a year on its entry plan.

Which one should you pick?

Choose Google One if…

Pick Google One if you need cloud storage for photos and files, especially on Android or across platforms; Basic at $1.99 or the 2 TB plan at $9.99 is hard to beat. Check which of the two 'Google AI Plus' plans your invoice names.

Choose Apple One if…

Pick Apple One if you would pay for at least two of Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Arcade anyway; Individual at $19.95 undercuts Music plus TV alone. Buy storage separately if 50 GB is not enough rather than jumping to Premier for it.

How to run both without paying for both

Many iPhone users end up paying both: Apple One for the services and Google One for photo backup. That is fine as long as neither is on a tier chosen for storage you could get cheaper elsewhere. Downgrade Apple One to Individual and let Google's $1.99 or $9.99 plan hold the files.

Frequently asked questions

Which is cheaper, Google One or Apple One?

Google One. Its cheapest standard plan works out to $1.67 a month ($19.99 a year) versus $19.95 a month ($239.40 a year) for Apple One, a difference of $219.41 a year. Bundles, promotions, and app-store billing can change the final price.

Is Google One cheaper than iCloud+ through Apple One?

For storage, by a wide margin: Google One gives 2 TB for $9.99 a month, while Apple One only includes 2 TB on the $39.95 Premier tier. Apple One's value is the bundled Music, TV and Arcade, not its storage.

What happens to my files if I cancel Google One or Apple One?

Neither deletes anything immediately. Google drops you to 15 GB and blocks uploads and Gmail while you are over quota, deleting content only after two years over the limit. Apple drops iCloud to 5 GB and pauses syncing and backups until you free space or buy storage.
