The short answer
Headspace is cheaper on every plan that matters: $69.99 a year against $79.99 for Calm, and $12.99 a month against $16.99. Calm raised both prices in February 2026; Headspace's have held since at least 2023. The family plans tie at $99.99 for six people. Both apps use the same trap, a short free trial that converts straight into the annual charge, and both keep your progress if you leave. Calm's edge is the 30-day web refund; Headspace's help centre describes a similar window, but its terms call purchases non-refundable.

Which one should you pick?
Choose Headspace if…
Pick Headspace if you want structured courses and the lower price, or if you are a student: $9.99 a year is the cheapest legitimate way into either app. Remember there is no pause, so cancel between stretches rather than paying through them.
Choose Calm if…
Pick Calm if sleep content and Sleep Stories are the reason you would open the app, and buy on calm.com rather than in the App Store: the web purchase is the one Calm will refund within 30 days, and promo codes only apply there.

Annual Calm Premium rose from $69.99 to $79.99 and monthly from $14.99 to $16.99; Calm's help centre confirmed the change on February 10, 2026 without listing figures, which come from the App Store listing.
How to run both without paying for both
Run the two trials back to back, Headspace's 14-day annual trial and Calm's 7-day one, with reminders set for the day before each ends. Commit annually to only one; paying both annually is $149.98 a year for two apps that overlap almost entirely.
